Cote de Clairborne
The Cote De Clairborne is a birthday ride for Larry Brooks that has turned into a race.
The ride was 65-miles with 25 miles of fire road, double track and singletrack.
The rollout was at a conversational pace and the racing really didn't start until the beginning of the dirt at mile 28. I expected the pace to pick up at this point so I made sure I was at the front of the race. We quickly formed a group of 6 off the front. The group rode together al the way to the condor lookout turnoff.
One rider was unable to maintain the pace slowly dropped off the back and Humberto flatted and had to stop for repair.
At the start of a rocky doubletrack, a rider on a drop bar mountain bike attacked. He was able to open a gap on the rough downhill.
I was in the 3 rider chasing group. Humberto rejoined the group at the Pozo ranger station. Now a group of 4 we set off chasing the lone leader.
Sean Haidet flatted and has to stop for repair. Our 3 man chasing group tried but we were unable to close the gap. We crossed the finish line together for 2nd-4th places.
I finished 3rd
